Thank you for your interest in becoming a Bunny Blessings Volunteer!
We have many volunteer opportunities within our ministry. Please read the information below and prayerfully consider how you can use your talents to join us in our mission to Love One Another!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Bunny Care - We are located at 418 Ewing Dr. in Belmont, NC. Please be aware of our location and your ability to travel to us at least twice a month before requesting training for this position.
We have two Bunny Care shifts each day. Bunny Care shifts are covered by volunteers in the mornings (typically by 9:30 am or earlier) and evenings (starting any time between 5:00-9:00). These shifts require at least 1.5 hr commitment with some volunteers choosing to stay 3-4 hrs. Duties include feeding bunnies, cleaning/refilling water containers, changing 1-3 litter boxes, sweeping/vacuuming/spot-cleaning bunny homes, playtime for all bunnies, removal of trash, etc. This volunteer position has a high level of physical activity. Sometimes the volunteer will need to move 40 lb. bags of pine pellets, large boxes of timothy hay, 30 lb. bags of feed and take out the trash.
If age 17 or less, you must have an adult present with you during training and shifts. You will be required to provide the name, address and phone number of the accompanying adult in the volunteer form below.
Ages 16-17 may be able to volunteer solo after a period of training and proven shifts.
Ages 12 & under that would like to volunteer, can check out our Junior Bunny Brigade at the link below.
We will provide one-on-one training in the barn with you.
Community Events- Our mission to Love One Another in our community sends us out to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, libraries and other locations 1-3 times per week. Event volunteers may meet at the Bunny Barn located at 418 Ewing Dr. in Belmont, NC (and potentially ride the Bunny Mobile) or meet us at the event location. Locations may be throughout the Charlotte area, typically less than 1 hour from Belmont. Our visits usually last about 1 hour. Please plan to arrive 15-30 minutes before start time for set up and remain 15-30 minutes afterwards for clean up and take down. During an event you will be assisting folks who want to hold our bunnies, engaging with them, providing them information about our nonprofit ministry, and simply smiling and being friendly. Training for this is provided. The schedule is very flexible, you may pick and choose depending on your own schedule and availability. We ask that you serve at least once a month.
Bunny Barn Visits- From individuals to large groups, we always have new friends wanting to visit the Bunny Barn! We are looking for friendly volunteers who can introduce people to the Bunny Barn, our bunnies and our ministry. You will learn about our history and mission and share the joy with new people. This typically requires 1-2 hours and is flexible. Training is provided.
Reading With Rabbits- Our Reading with Rabbits program is wildly successful and needs you! Volunteers are needed during school hours. This program is growing and will provide opportunities for you to serve for a few hours one morning each month or a few hours one morning each week. It involves working one-on-one with children typically in the first grade in Gaston County. We share the love of rabbits with these wonderful kids and we help them read as well. This position requires a passion for bunnies, kids and reading! You will be part of a team of volunteers in this program and training is provided.
Administrative Assistance -Are you good with words, numbers or general organization? Want to volunteer from home? As Bunny Blessings has grown, so has our administrative duties! We always strive for excellence and can often use extra help. Let us know what you are best at and we will find ways for you to serve!
Organizational/General Cleaning -Are you a little obsessive compulsive about cleaning or organizing? If yes, then we NEED you! The Bunny Barn can always use a little extra tidying- wiping out the fridge, organizing merchandise and supplies, mopping, restocking, etc. Shifts are very flexible, and if you are available, so is the extra volunteer work!
Gardening/Outside Beautification - Our bunnies LOVE to eat fresh garden goodies and our head gardener could use some extra support! Assistance in purchasing plants/seeds, planting, watering, harvesting, etc is needed. Or do you like to plant flowers? Sweep the sidewalk? Tidy up our areas outside around the Bunny Barn? Want to assist in setting up and maintaining a fence, benches and an outdoor area for therapy? We try to keep everything looking nice so visitors have a positive experience and we would love your help making this happen!
Scheduling/Logistics - Are you effective with communication, details and calendars? Our nonprofit ministry heavily relies on carefully planned schedules of volunteers for Bunny Care and planning logistics for our events. Which bunny goes? Which bunny stays? Which volunteers are going on an event? This position coordinates the answers to those questions and communicates it to the Community Event team. Training is provided and this can be done from anywhere!
Supply Management -Our nonprofit requires careful monitoring of supplies and proper replenishment. If you are interested in picking up produce from grocery stores, pine pellets from Tractor Supply, general supplies from places like Walmart,Aldi, & Food Lion we would appreciate your assistance!
Fundraising -We strive to be good stewards and never want limited funds to keep us from growing and sharing joy and love with everyone. If you are skilled at fundraising, have corporate connections, enjoy public speaking as a Bunny Blessings Ambassador, enjoy finding and applying for grants or have exciting ideas about supporting Bunny Blessings financially, please let us know!
Other -We may not have mentioned YOUR special gifts and talents! There are so many parts that come together to make our mission successful and we don't want to miss what you have to offer. Please share with us anything you would like to contribute!
