The Bunny Blessings Bunnies are taking over Gaston County Elementary School Libraries! Not to eat books! But rather to read with the elementary students!
Below is a synopsis of how the program works:
Generally, we arrive at your school at 8:45 am to set up. The program begins at 9 and usually ends around 11 am. We dedicate Mondays to our Reading With Rabbits program. Our bunnies are busy visiting other places during the rest of the week.
We need access to the school library or another closed area in which to confine a possible runaway rabbit (this happened once!) It also helps to keep the noise level to a minimum. Rabbits prefer quiet and calm.
We ask that only 4 students are brought to the library at a time in student teams of 2 so that while one student reads to the rabbit for 5 minutes, the other student is holding and petting the rabbit. The students will spend ten minutes with the rabbits and then we rotate to the next group of student teams.
Depending on the number of volunteers that can attend, we may be able to accommodate 6 students at a time. In the past, we had 4 students at a time. The size of the room also affects the number of students.
We also need the librarian and/or a teacher/parent volunteer to remain present at all times during the program in the event a student requires immediate attention. A minimum of someone to escort students to and from classrooms/library and someone to stay with us is necessary.
Our suggested donation to secure the visit is $5 per student to help cover the cost of transportation, supplies and administrative help. Limited sponsorships are available if needed, please inquire.
Let the bunnies increase your student's love for reading! Fill out the request information below and we will contact you to work out the details so your students can Read With Rabbits!
Thank you bunny much for your interest in our Reading With Rabbits and for supporting our ministry!
